Our Humans of 3Q series continues this week with Scott Schroeder, Account Coordinator, out of our Denver office! Get to know Scott below:

Explain why you’re a 3Qer in 3 sentences or fewer:

3Q provides an amazing opportunity to grow as a marketer and learn from some amazing coworkers.

How is 3Q different from other agencies you’ve worked at?

The people I work with. Coming into work is so much more fulfilling here because everyone around me is positive and always willing to help out.

What’s something that makes your office cooler than the other 3Q offices?

Our location. We are located in LoDo (lower downtown), and we have everything around us you could ever want. From fantastic places to eat to local breweries, it is a great place to spend time outside of the office.

When coworkers from other offices come to visit, what’s one thing they absolutely have to do in your city?

I think this depends on when they come visit. If they come in the spring or summer, the best thing to do would be to see a concert at Red Rocks. If it is in the winter, then a weekend in the mountains relaxing or skiing should be the priority.

What 3Q initiative outside of your job description are you most proud of being a part of?

I don’t know if this counts as an initiative, but I am very proud that 3Q values personal drive and a willingness to learn. I came to 3Q with no practical digital marketing experience, but 3Q saw a willingness to learn and decided I would be a good fit. Without this match of values, I could still be hunting for my first digital marketing job.

Tell us about your morale associate (pet: if you have one).

I have one dog named Latte. She is a mix of a Jindo, Akita, Maltese, and Poodle. We got her when we lived in Korea, and she made the trip back to the states with us. She has way too much energy most of the time, but really loves nothing more than curling up under the blankets when we sleep or watch TV.

What’s one marketing lesson you wish you’d learned earlier?

Even the best-laid plans can change quickly.

How do you spend your free time?

When I have free time, I have a few things I like to do. I really enjoy weightlifting, so every day before work I start my day with the gym. I also enjoy movies and video games when I have some down time. Movies are great because I get to spend more time with my family than I normally would during the week. My last hobby is brewing beer. I started to brew beer when I lived in Korea, and I found it is a great way to be creative.

What’s been the coolest thing you’ve done with your unlimited PTO?

I haven’t used much unlimited PTO, but I plan to use it later this year for a vacation.

What is your next adventure?

My fiancee and I and are planning to head back to Korea in May. We both lived there from 2012 to 2018. We are going to visit our friends and eat all the foods we’ve missed. We will also spend a week in Japan to visit my old host family from when I studied abroad.

If you could choose any TV show or movie world to live in, what would it be?

I was a big fan of X-Men when I was younger, so I think I would want to live in that show/movie-verse. Not necessarily because I would have the chance to get mutant powers, even though that would be awesome, but more for the chance to see all the different ones.

What is the last thing you read?

The last book I read was the autobiography of Gucci Mane. I highly recommend it.

What do you think has been the most interesting change in the marketing industry or in your channel this year?

Since I recently started, it is hard to determine what has really changed, but one difference from when I was in school is the use of automated bidding. I always learned about manual and enhanced CPC, and now I use a lot of tCPA. It is really interesting to work with the bids to try and find the sweet spot in tCPA.

If you were given an unlimited amount of money to invest into one upcoming or exciting marketing technology, what would it be?

I think AI would be the best technology to invest in. I would like to use it to help with automated bidding, since that seems to be where the future is, to help with using historical data and current KPIs to figure out what the best tCPA and keep it at that level over the course of a quarter.
